Well, he is no longer so tiny! In fact, he is growing too fast! Look at how sweet this guy is!

I love meeting clients and learning about what they do, and these two happen to own a small personal training gym here in town! I worked with them for a little while last year and was most impressed with their knowledge and the results I was able to get by implementing their knowledge.

Do you guys remember these two from their engagement session? Do you remember how much I said I loved them? Well, I love them more now. This is another PERFECT example of a client turned friend. Sometimes you just don’t need to know someone for a long time before you know that you welcome their presence in your life because they make life more fun. I have really enjoyed getting to know this amazing couple and was saddened when a recent opportunity took them away to Boston. I mean I am happy for them, but only because it is the right thing to be. I am secretly green at the gills that they got to move to Boston!! Wait, I don’t think that is a secret. I am pretty sure I professed my jealousy before I said congratulations.

These photos aren’t from their actual wedding day because they were married in Hawaii. It was just the two of them there when they exchanged their vows. Even though I would have loved to photograph the actual event for them, I was honored to document their story once they returned back to Albuquerque. Take a look, these two are meant to be in front of a camera. And together.

The best part about what I do is making friends along the way. For the most part, the lovely people that hire me are EXACTLY my kind of person. The type of person that I was hoping my branding would bring to me. This client was no exception. Char- I just adore you! I have loved working with you and your two boys. I can’t wait to watch them grow! I could talk to you for hours and hope that I have many opportunities to do exactly that. How about coffee? Or margaritas? Is it lame that I am asking you on a friend date on the internet? Just say yes and we can laugh about it later! I have kept you and your little guys to myself long enough, it is time for me to share.. so I hesitantly introduce Baby Miles and Baby Graham. I can’t say for certain which is which, so you are on your own there. Mom can’t help you either.. it’s fine.. just use the names interchangeably.. you’ll be right part of the time. ;D

One of my favorite times in life to capture is the the first birthday! It is such an exciting time. There is so much to celebrate! Mostly that everyone survived, but the first year is full of huge milestones that will never be forgotten and that will serve as foundation of love that will keep the child alive through the terrible 2′s.

I was so excited to capture this amazing milestone for this precious little guy and his parents. Roberto was quite possibly the happiest one year old I have ever had the pleasure of shooting! Happy birthday, Roberto!!

I love newborns. Period. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE a big newborn! They are so squishy! I could have photographed this little one until the cows came home, but eventually she got tired of me and kicked me out of her space

Thanks Mom and Dad for being possibly the MOST laid back first time parents EVER! You guys seemed to transition into your roles and mommy and daddy so effortlessly, and it makes my heart smile to see how much pride you guys have when you talk about your baby girl. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this amazing and fleeting time in her life! She is stunning and you have so much to be proud of!

When I pulled off Baby B’s hat I was SO excited. Look at all that hair!! Seeing a baby with hair happens from time to time, but seeing a baby with THAT much hair is rare. I am still excited over that hair and it is weeks later I know a certain Mommy and Daddy who are going to poor off of buying hair accessories. Because who wouldn’t accessorize all that hair. Thank you Wendy, for choosing me to document this fleeting time in your life. It will be gone before you know it!

Sometimes the stars align and you meet people that you were just SUPPOSED to meet. J’s mommy contacted me about photos and I could tell from the e-mail that they were military. As we got to chatting, it turns out that her husband is here temporarily going through some training with the office that my husband works in. Guess what they say about the world being small is true. We continued to keep in touch and even hang out a few times while we waited for J’s arrival and I am so glad we did. Candace, it has been so wonderful getting to know you and your small family! I am honored that you chose me to document this amazing time in your life! I hope that we meet again in this crazy small world! I wish you and yours all the best in Okinawa!

A few words you need to know before you get there:

Konichiwa (cone-ee-chee-wa)- it their catch all greeting. When you enter an establishment they will all say in unison “KONICHIWAAAA”. Pretty sure it is good afternoon but serves the purpose of hello.

Ohayou gozaimasu (ohio goz-i-mus)- good morning. usually shortened to “ohayoooo”. Pretty sure that is the informal thing. So in a formal situation say the whole thing.

Konbanwa (cone-bon-wa)- Good evening.

Sumi masen (sue-me-moss-in)- Excuse me. Trust me, you need that one.

Hai (Hi) – It means YES!

Moshimosi- Just like it sounds and it is the way they answer the phone. It is entertaining.

Use my pronunciation at your own risk. I was formally taught exactly zero of this, but thought it might help anyways

And one last tip, you must frequent Cocoks- the pedicures are amazing and they can do Sistine Chapel like drawings on your toes. No joke.

And now we finally get to meet baby J! Everyone say: KONICHIWAAAA!

I get inquiries all the time to do things I don’t normally do. Sometimes I respond back and sometimes I don’t, just depends on how ridiculous the request is… and BELIVE me there are some ridiculous requests that have come my way. Well, when this one came through I didn’t immediately think to myself ”is she crazy? of course i won’t do her engagement photos. why would i possibly consider photographing two adults that WANT their photo taken over children who have NO desire have their photos taken?” I actually re-read the e mail because it was so funny, and she may or may not have said some very kind and flattering things that made me want to read the message again. I gave her a jingle to chat her up and see if she was someone I thought I would be able to work with on a project that was totally new to me.. and I COULD! I was actually EXCITED to work with these two! Humor came up in our conversation, and well, we got each other’s. A lot of people don’t get my humor, but she did. AND she thought I was funny I am proud to introduce to you Krista & Sam. They complete one another. Watching the way the care about one another is exciting and refreshing. Thank you Krista & Sam for being a breath of fresh air in love and in my creative pursuits!

Sometimes when you meet someone you know, immediately, that this person will become not only a friend, but warmth and fresh air when your world isn’t so warm. When my son started school at a new school and in a new country last year, Jodi always had a warm smile and a kind nod as we passed every morning long before she knew my name or anything else about me or my family. She was one of the very few parents to reach out and make sure that I knew that we were welcome and that there was laughter to be shared. There were new friends and new memories to be made. Now that you know the love she can show a total stranger try to imagine the extraordinary love she shows her son! Recently Jodi found out that their small family of 3 would be getting just a bit bigger and turning into a family of 4. She wanted to make sure and capture the love and bond that she and her first born share before life is forever changed as they know it. Thanks for letting me capture this truly special bond! I can’t wait to capture many more memories for you guys! I love seeing your heart so full!
